Skills, competencies and experience:
Jules joined Saga in 1997 after an early career in software application development and business analysis roles. Prior to becoming Group IT Director in 2008, Jules's roles have included Head of Application Development, IT Director for the Services Division and IT Director for Travel. Jules led the IT transformation programme initiated in 2007, which included the in-sourcing of a number of critical IT services and re-platforming of enterprise applications. Alongside his primary responsibilities, Jules has fulfilled a number of strategic project and programme leadership roles in the IT, digital and operational domains.
Paula joined Saga in April 2022 as Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer and was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in February 2023. Paula is responsible for developing Saga’s strategy with the Board and Executives and developing innovative propositions as part of the Saga brand, which will drive further customer engagement and business growth. Prior to Saga, Paula held a number of strategic, transformation and operational roles in hospitality, retail and service businesses. She was previously Chief Strategy Officer for Greene King, responsible for both strategic development and transformation implementation and prior to that, Chief Operating Officer for Superdry plc and Chief Strategy Officer for the Co-op Group.
John was appointed CEO for Saga Travel Group in January 2022, having been CEO of Titan Travel since July 2021. Prior to Saga, John was Executive Group General Manager of Helloworld, one of the largest travel distributors in Australia and New Zealand, following five years as the Global CEO of STA Travel. John also held senior roles within TUI UK and Austravel. John is an established leader in the travel industry and brings a wealth of sector knowledge and leadership experience.
Nigel joined Saga in 1985 and spent his formative years working in sales, finance and marketing before joining the commercial side of the business. In 1996, he instigated the purchase of Saga’s first cruise ship which was the catalyst of Saga’s in-house cruise operation. Nigel then spent 10 years working in a commercial and product development capacity across both the Cruise and Tour operating businesses. In 2007, he returned to the Cruise business and in 2015, helped lead the development of Saga’s first purpose-built cruise ship, Spirit of Discovery. He took over the role of Chief Operating Officer in 2018 and in 2021, was appointed as CEO of Saga Cruise.
Lisa joined the Executive Leadership Team in February 2022 to drive our vision of knowing our customers, and what it means to get older, better than anyone else. Prior to Saga, Lisa owned and led insight agencies for over 20 years and is a multi-award-winning and published speaker. During that time, Lisa worked with leading UK and global players, including Aviva, Zurich, Bupa, Hargreaves Lansdown, BBC and many others, helping them to develop leading-edge insight into their strategies and tactics. Over the last 10 years, Lisa focused her attention on the ageing population and, in particular, the ageing consumer mind. She is now regarded as a leader in the field of what it means to age as a consumer, what needs are spawned by this, and how to best satisfy those needs with products and services.
Jerry joined Saga on 1 September 2022 as CEO of Saga Money. Jerry is pivotal in delivering Saga’s planned acceleration of its Money business, focused on attracting new customers and driving growth through new, and existing, products. Jerry has previously worked at businesses including Royal London, Homeserve, Royal Bank of Scotland and Egg.
Aaron was appointed CEO of Saga Media on 1 September 2022. Aaron leads Saga’s media and content strategy, designed to increase the frequency and depth of Saga’s interaction with customers. Aaron has held a variety of roles in publishing, including Chief Audience and Ecommerce Officer and Chief Content Officer at Future plc, the global media company.
Michael was appointed as Chief Data Officer on 3 October 2022 and is focused on realising the potential in the way Saga uses customer insight to enhance its commercial value. Michael joined from Camelot, the operator of the National Lottery, where he was Chief Data Officer. He has also held senior positions with Centrica and Tesco, having previously been a consultant with McKinsey and Company.
